When you have gathered your products sort through them
and find things that would be able to be auctioned
online. Small valuable items, books, vintage clothing
— almost anything can be bought and sold online. If
you’re not sure what would be good, spend some time
browsing an auction site and see what products are
listed.
Take digital photos of the items and write a detailed
description of each item. Follow the rules of your
online auction house when placing your items up for
bid. Be sure to have an adult help you through this
process, as there are important guidelines that you
will need to follow. It’s a good idea to set up an
automatic payment system with your auction house to be
sure you get timely payment for your goods.
Put a specific time limit on your auctioned
items. You can either stagger the finish times, to allow you
a break in between shipping items, or have them all close on
a Friday, and use the weekend to pack and ship your
products.
Once your items have sold, ship them promptly to your
customers. Take care to wrap them well to maintain their
great condition. If you have leftover items, either donate
them to charity or host a neighborhood rummage sale. Send a
thank-you note to any volunteers who helped you gather,
sort, pack or ship.
Variations:
There are many online used bookstores and auction houses. If
you have limited space and cannot gather bulkier items,
consider soliciting your friends and neighbors for gently
used books and books on tape that you can sell online at
Amazon or a similar site. |
