Seeking scholarships locally
|
|
Your local community may
be a great source for scholarships,
grants, sponsorships, or other funding
opportunities. Do some research, make
some phone calls. Your local Rotary,
Kiwanis, or college clubs may be sources
of help for you. Perhaps you can do a
presentation for them before and after
your program.

|
Seeking loans locally
|
|
Private loan companies may be an option for your family. Local and national banks sometimes offer loans for educational travel (if you are in grades 9-12 and therefore earning high school credit for your program, be sure to mention this). Terms and availability vary, so do your research! It might be a great funding opportunity for you!

Scholarship Etiquette |
|
Some things to keep in mind before applying for scholarships:
- If your family is counting on a scholarship for funding but you do not receive it, withdrawal fees still apply
and increase closer to departure. To avoid surprises, be aware of scholarship announcement dates and how they correspond to the Withdrawal and Refund schedule in your terms and conditions.
- If you receive donations for your travels and then earn a scholarship that makes donations unnecessary, plan to (a) return the money, (b) donate it to another organization, or (c) use it for incidentals your scholarship doesn’t cover.
- If you earn a scholarship, the program office will reimburse any funds paid that you no longer need for your tuition.
