Fund-Raising Spotlight

Kid’s Night Out
Host a Kid’s Night Out, a babysitting type service that provides a safe place for children to spend a fun activity-filled night out. Schedule a block of time, about 4 hours, on the weekend when parents can drop their children off. Provide snack items (have a local pizzeria donate pizza for the night) and organize activities to keep everyone busy. The kids will have a great time and the parents can spend some time away on a date or shopping. The children you watch, and their parents, will come away from this event very happy and asking when the next Kid’s Night Out will happen.

What You Will Need:

  • Church hall, school gymnasium, local meeting place
  • Event flyers
  • People to People flyers
  • Snacks and age appropriate games, movies, activities.

Send out flyers or invitations to let parents know about your fund-raiser. You will need to decide what to charge and how to organize the evening. One of our delegates, Matt Re, charged $25 for the each child. Set-up games to play such as freeze tag, tug-o-war, red light/green light, and sock wrestling. You can do crafts as well, especially if your Kid’s Night Out is around a holiday.

Ask around to find a large safe area that you can use to host the evening. Churches and civic organizations usually have a large meeting space that they will donate. Local pizzerias are great at providing food for these types of events.

Event Flyers
To advertise your event, make flyers and invitations to distribute that include why you are holding the fund-raiser and the location, date and time. Send the flyers to friends and family and letting them know the evening will be fun and safe for their kids. Post flyers around your community, but make sure you get permission first.

People to People Flyers
Download a copy of your program flyer and make copies to distribute at your event.

Success Story
Matt Re organized 4 K.N.O’s to raise funds for his journey last summer. A local martial arts club gave him a large safe space to use. Matt had a local pizza shop donate pizza for the kids to eat, and he planned lots of activities to keep them busy. Everyone who participated had a great time, and Matt was able to raise $1500.
