Get permission from a local community center, church, or school to use an auditorium, or common area, for your movie night. Make sure there are plenty of chairs, couches, beanbags and other forms of comfortable lounging. You may need to borrow a television, screen, or movie screen if the location does not have any of that equipment onsite.
Be sure to show a movie that is age-appropriate and does not have offensive content or language (G or PG rated). Watch the movie yourself beforehand to ensure that it is appropriate. Children's animation, light comedies or family movies are good categories to start looking in.
Have plenty of goodies such as different kinds of soda, water, candy and popcorn for sale. See if a local pizza place will sponsor you and provide free pizzas and soda.
Make up invitations that list the date, time, movie, location, pricing and purpose for movie night. Request that guests RSVP so you will have an idea of how many seats and refreshments will be needed. Include your phone number or e-mail address so people can contact you if they have any questions or suggestions.
There are many different ways that you can price this event. You can ask for donations only, charge for admission and extra for any refreshments, or charge one price for admissions that includes a snack and a soda.
Volunteers
Ask friends and family to help with setting up the seating arrangement, placing flyers to announce the movie night, to usher people, and to hand out refreshments. Be sure and give your volunteers a big “thank you” for their help!
